Matt our site agent has been busy building again. We now have a nice new boot rack in stores, giving us more storage and improved drying facilities.

Rubbish

Some of you may remember an earlier post where I explained that as a centre we try and do our best to help clean up venues we use. Well we tackled a local gorge car park in recent weeks. 

I am amazed how much rubbish is left here and some of it must be by other users. Shame on them. There was so much rubbish we needed a trailer and a team with spades. 

If you luck close, yes you will see an old double mattress we took away. Smelly that was, I can say ! I have a feeling that as its the busy season we will be back cleaning again within a month.

How many mountain scrambles can you fit in, in one day?

Today, all of our groups from Blue Peris went on a Mountain Walk/ Scramble. After a long day under a hot sun, it's fair to say the group are feeling a little tired. 

There are not really any words that can describe the views of North Wales when the sun is shining. Hopefully all of the students will remember this experience for a long time. See below for some amazing views!

Summer is well and truly here in North Wales

Anglesey has been amazing today, with the sun shining though on all the coasteering groups we had out. The groups having arrived yesterday,  have also been out mountain biking,  doing some pretty scary abseils and gorge scrambling.

As the weather looked great today, we decided to head out to the coast, for some scrambling, swimming, jumping and much fun was had by all.

The coasteering teams focused on their aims of the course and approached today very determined.  The weather often dictates what we do, but we always aim to get as much done as possible in as wide a variety of locations.

Training the Trainee

Here at Blue Peris we are lucky to have the facility to offer 2 trainee instructor places. Out current trainees are now very competent having been with us since September 2014.  They play a crucial role in the running of the centre and are great to have around due to their enthusiasm and hard working ethic.

If your interested in becoming a Blue Peris trainee then we recruit between the months of March and May each year, with the scheme running from September to the following August.

Recently the centre manager spent a day at Cable Bay  Angelsey  training centre trainees  in the activity of sea level traversing. This activity is a key part of the outdoor education on offer at Blue Peris, as a result  staff competence is vital. With this in mind we run a varied training package for our staff to ensure they competent. On this day in particular we were also joined by other trainees form other centres so they could also gain further instruction.

The day proved to be be very worthwhile due to the weather, attitude of the trainees and the amount of areas we discussed and practiced.
